Uranus by JoeyJazz Uranus by JoeyJazz
Info by Greg Martin:

An oddity among the planets, Uranus's axis is
tilted 90 degrees in respect to the ecliptic. This
means that it "rolls" around its orbit, its slender
ring system and moons appearing to rotate
around the planet like the hands of a clock.

My second piece for ETP (first was Pluto /to be included/) - it looks simple but there is a lot of adjustments and changes throughout the development that is hidden from the observer's eye.

Criticism, advices and feedback were given by *sirgerg, =Baro and ^gucken - thanks guys!

If you want to download a wallpaper version (yeah, even for this vertical one) - visit our ETP site [link]

Enjoy

Uranus my home planet and the best planet in the entire universe! Did you know that Uranus is also a gas planet. How ironic that a gas planet is named Uranus.

The nice clean surface of Uranus--symbolizes the unconditional pride of being who we are!

I just hope that this amazing piece of artwork doesn't suffer from being the "butt" of any jokes.

Keep up the great work!

The simplicity of this piece really does justice to our seventh planet (oh, the lengths I go to avoid saying "uranus"). Anyway, given it's relative blandness, finding creative ways to present this planet is proving a challenge, and I think this piece is spot-on.

a few months ... have no idea - every single ETP piece takes at least a few months to develop... ...weeks of adjusting, then weeks to take a brake from it, so one can get a new perspective...

that's impressive kind of learning, but it seems that it works :-)

are you doing the entire solar sistem? 'cause it's gonna be great! this one is so simple but yet so beautiful, I like the fact that when you look at it you ca hear....nothing... just the space around you.the blue tones are great btw.

Well, did you visit the site? We ARE actually making images of the whole solar system (I'd like to make at least 1 picture of every planet/part of it, since there is a lot of unchallenged themes). :)

that's great! I'll give a look at the site then ;) I'm fascinated by astronomy and I really like how you picture the planets and space in general. and since Jupiter has I think 60 satellites and saturn I think 40 or 50, I hope there's gonna be more XD

:D Well - most of those satellites are just barren small rocks, but some of them will be depictured. Don't worry ;)

this is my desktop from ETP... awesome work... yeah i will change it soon enough though (laughs)

i especially love that detail on the moon. it is tasty.

funny, how in school, in elementary this planet was made fun of. lol yeah i was never the one though, i was always the nerdy Jurassic park kid with dinosaur drawings. (wtf am i going into now?)

anyhoo, the actual planet of Uranus in this illustration is amazing. freaking love it man, great job 2:

When I was a kid and new to my Solar System interest, Uranus was my favourite planet, it had the most awesome colouring and was interesting thinking about what it would be like for a planet to spin on its side too :dizzy:

I remember I did, and with Jupiter and Neptune too...I hard a hard time convincing people that all the gas giants had rings, just that two of them were barely noticable :crying:

In 8th grade I even lost a mark on a project I did on the Solar System because I drew a faint, thin ring around Jupiter :fight:

Well - that faint ring around jupiter is not seen even on close images, so it was a bit deserved :D

Yeah, true - I was just trying to be a know-it-all :XD: I compare it to a spider's web...maybe it can only be seen as a thin streak when the sun reflects off it at a certain angle...But most is almost invisible and more like a donut-shape than a flat ring :donut:

Cool! I like how you can spot moons in the distance if you're very observant. This would be a good piece to make a stereo-gram out of, especially if you could offset the moons in the background so they stood out.
